On Salman Rushdie's Father

His name was Anis Rushdie.

And now a digression immediately. Dr Farhan Mujib told us the following things. In Rushdie's book Midnight's Children, lots of things take place at the residence of the protagonist located at Cornwallis Road in Agra. Actually the family lived at Marris Road in Aligarh. That house where many things happened in the above mentioned book is still there located at what is called Abdullah (Women's College, AMU) crossing. Then there is this incident from Pakistan in a function - marriage party or some other party. Some one asked about a boy who was not mixing with others. He was told that he is Rushdie Sahab's son and God alone knows what he thinks of himself.

Coming back to Rushdie senior. Anis Ahmed Rushdie was apparently a brilliant scholar and  he was dismissed from ICS service for age related forgery and missed prosecution by a whisker.

Danish Khan writes about him here.
