The evolution versus creation debate has this hideous effect of constraining Muslim social and cultural space.
The matter of fact is this that Muslims believe that Allah(SWT) has created this world including the living beings.
This is integral part of Islamic faith and belief system. Anybody questioning this or insinuating against it or expecting Muslims to agree with any philosophy or assertion contrary to that hit at the roots of their faith. Muslims have not been so vocally defending their position in this matter. So Richard Dawkins thought it appropriate to take a pot shot. (See here, here and here.) Now Muslim Council of Britain and come up with a rejoinder to professor Dawkins. Of course a single statement about a particular topic is too little a thing considering the massive communication gap between the west and Islam.
