Celebrated End

Colonel Muammar Qaddhafi had a celebrated end. Celebrated by others.

And the end reminds one of historical process. The end seems to be the routine historical process being repeated for umpteenth time. But there is an important glitch. It reminds one not of recent continuous history but about two hundred old history.

Then there are the other questions related to his death. The fighters, whoever they are, had been making constant progress must have known that the former dictator had lost the bite. They reached him in a slow approach spread out over months. This means that the mob handling was not an inevitable out come. But that is what ultimately happened.

There were horror stories from his rule. A young boy appearing in the dawn prayers for few days was told to take life easily. same was the case for a youth keeping a beard. Clearly Colonel was not kind accommodating to young people turning to Islam. And then there were all the symptoms of a dictator. Consequently :
Correspondents say few Libyans are worried about the manner of their former dictator's humiliating end, which has been celebrated across the country.
And this tells us one additional thing. The people are thinking in terms of the death of an individual. That it is but there is another aspect. Nobody would like that this should be the standard way of dealing with a culprit however obnoxious. If people of that country are thinking exactly in that way then it tells us only one thing that they have not reached a level of thinking that they should. May be people will contest by saying that people of Libya never really got the opportunity to get trained or habituated to thing is a calm, cool, dispassionate and controlled way. This position is of course completely tenable. And the times are indeed such that the society under scrutiny is in a state of excited nerves. Obviously the only thing that can be said with some surety is that the events have been full of admonitions.
