When a Part Overwhelms the Whole

It is perfectly possible that a part might overwhelm the whole.
Take, for example, the case of a boil that manifests like a pinhead only but when you operate then you realize that whole system has completely rotten.

This thought came to mind as reaction to the activities of a particular person. He loves to get into the nitty gritty of technicalities of theological matters (masa-il) and tries to use them to prove others Minhaj ( method, ideology, point of view, madh-hab) wrong. This technique is very effective if your addressing the laity. Masa-il are legitimately left for the scholars for the common folks have other pressing matters to bother about. But when a scholar goes bad and starts dumping his material on the lay people then it is a big tragedy.
