Good Britain, Bad Britain

There was, once upon a time, a man called Nirad C. Chaudhury.
He tried to live like an Englishman. Behave like Englishman.
Then there is a proverb in India that when a crow tries to walk like a swan the result is that he'll forget his own walk. Somebody remarked that he wrote lots of books and infuriated most of his countrymen-except the intelligent ones.
You see the heads I win, tails you loose game of the commenter?
Have you stopped beating your wife?
That is why birth of a person like Nirad C. Choudhury can not be anything but a fitnah-a calamity. It is a no-win situation for you. May Lord Most High protect us from every fitnah.
One of the brain waves he had was that whatever good we have now we owe it to the British.
Period.
And too many of us end up believing such rubbish.
What about slavery?
British enslaved India.
Freedom is a British value. A value they value a lot.
But they enslaved India (and too many other countries).
So what does it make them-good or bad?
Even Dr Manmohan Singh sometime back got confused about that. (That is an inevitable end of western education-like it or not, unless you take enormous amount of precaution.)
Professor Irfan habib took Dr Singh to task. Believe us-we have it on the authority of S.Swaminathan A.Ayer.
