Fuzzballs by Samir Mathur
One of the earnest promoters of science in India was late Babu Lal Saraf of the Physics Department, Rajasthan University, Jaipur. He once remarked, "Alright tell me honestly how many new scientific terms have we introduced after independence?" The answer must have been non-zero but not high enough so no one took up the challenge to enumerate. This was a few decades ago. Situation is not much better now either. But then there are exceptions. A string theorist Samir Mathur has developed an idea-that the black holes are actually fuzzballs. Here is the latest link. Here is an earlier one. And one more. Then you take off. Up, up and away.

Is There a SUSY Disaster?
The Higgs question is still not settled.
It is necessary to settle that because it is the only missing piece of a very elegant theory called the standard model.
But worries have started at another corner. Is the world supersymmetric?
The gross answer was known long ago. It is not in a straightforward way. We do not know the susy partner of electron, for example.
The finer answer was not known.
Some finer answers were excluded.

And all hell is breaking loose.
Rightfully so because in these landscapes (there is a danger of a pun being there but it is not intended at all) there is always the danger of exceptions turning into rules.
Good times.
BBC had it first. This must have irked many of the heavy weights of the blogging world. Even if they were not in Mumbai at Electron-Photon 2011 they were at least browsing, downloading and listening to the talks.

Why CPI Only?
CPI MP Aziz Pasha spoke in Rajya Sabha on behalf of innocent Muslim youth being kept in custody on account of various terror related charges-even in those cases where it is a public knowledge that the culprits belong to Sangh Parivar. Question is why only CPI MP? Do other MP's feel that they will be accused of treason for espousing Muslim cause? Why? Is there a thief in your heart? How did it get in there? Have you done anything communal in your life? Most probably not. Then why this shaking of knees when it comes to defend innocent Muslim youth? Is anybody asking you to defend culprits? I suppose it is time for Muslim MP's and MLA's to behave like man.
Hurricanes After Hurricanes
The news that a hurricane is about to hit America has become as common as your tooth paste advertisement jingle. So far we only get the news of miscreants taking advantage of vacated property. After that life returns to normal. Question is whether Allah Most High is giving a signal to the still most powerful nation on the face of the Earth? Of course we see no signs that American people are in a mood to listen. Should they not listen to God in whom they trust? On the contrary they seem to be deciding in the opposite direction-not to continue with positing their trust in God. Some people are trying to remove the In God We Trust legend from dollar notes ( and please do not get us going about these silly people calling notes bills). It is unlikely that kicking out of Daven Sharma for bringing America down to AA+ from AAA will help American economy. To be honest your poor Alig has no suggestion what so ever to keep American number one position in tact. And technical inability is only one of the reasons.

JNMC Emergency: Thumbs Down
The guys learning car driving changed their mood at the last moment and as a result fell your poor Alig (YPA) near Minto E.
And then they apologized-either on their own or because of the presence of so many bulls (AMU internal security people).
For scratches on knee, shin, foot and hand the JNMC emergency a few hundred meters away was a good choice. Or a bad choice-in reality. What is the use of a service that can not serve you? For twenty minutes no dressing or cleaning of injuries. Elder son of Dr Nadir Ali Khan Sahab (DB) took YPA to a traditional surgeon and the dressing was done in few minutes.
And hence the title.
And all thanks are due to our Lord Most High in every circumstance.

Guy With Guns and Guns
There is this guy from Russia.
He plays with guns. Small and big. Including tanks.
And people wondered as to how he got them all-so many of them and many of them very sophisticated.
Then he told it himself.
Anybody can do it.
It just takes money and paperwork. (I buy most of them, the rest I borrow.)
See for yourself here, here, here, here and here. And there is more.
And the guy has a great sense of humour too. (Now you see it-now you don't.)

Experience of a New Muslima
Here is a heart warming story-you'll wish the similar things happened to you.

"In 1996, I was in Syria enjoying one of life's perfect days at the farm of Hisham Ghrayeb. My then new friend - now sister, Nura, got right up close to my face and looded deeply into my eyes, she tenderly cupped my face in her hands-a nurturing gesture no one had shown me since childhood-she smiled as she said, "You have the face of Islam." To this day, it remains the greatest compliment I have ever received.
The face of Islam! One has to ponder - what is the face of Islam? Shortcut for you right here. I know, and it is my honor to share it with you.Islam has only one face; it does not come in disguise, and it does not pretend to be anything else. Islam announces clearly and definitively what is expected of you. Islam is not a shape shifter. Always it is the same, uncorrupted by the times and the whims of humanity. Islam is brutally honest while at once tender and light. It is following the Qur'an which is the voice of Allah, and guess what - Allah may not think just like you do; Allah thinks like Allah! Although you may find this shocking, it is absolutely sublime! This last revelation adjusted my entire perspective and was presented to me by Brother Jerry. Finally, my friends, sweet Islam is the whisper of peace embracing the spirit of each Muslim. It is the silent, bubbling joy to which we are privy when we hold the hand of Allah while we climb this mountain of life. It is our safety, our support and our motivation. The face of Islam is one face, but you will find that face on over 1.2 billion people in the world today. Inshallah, you will recognize it when you see it; or better yet, someone will see it in you."

Source : Rutgers Mathematics Department via NEWProfessor Michael Keissling, a faculty member in the Rutgers Department of Mathematics whose field of study is mathematical physics, kindly sent me a transcript of an actual interview with Dirac which appeared in the Wisconsin State Journal of April, 1929. An interview with Dirac
I been hearing about a fellow they have up at the U. this spring --- a mathematical physicist, or something, they call him --- who is pushing Sir Isaac Newton, Einstein and all the others off the front page. So I thought I better go up and interview him for the benefit of State Journal readers, same as I do all other top notchers. His name is Dirac and he is an Englishman. He has been giving lectures for the intelligentsia of math and physics departments --- and a few other guys who got in by mistake. ROUNDY INTERVIEWS PROFESSOR DIRAC
An Enjoyable Time Is Had By All
By Roundy
So the other afternoon I knocks at the door of Dr. Dirac's office in Sterling Hall and a pleasant voice says "Come in." And I want to say here and now that this sentence "come in" was about the longest one emitted by the doctor during our interview. He sure is all for efficiency in conversation. It suits me. I hate a talkative guy. I found the doctor a tall youngish-looking man, and the minute I seen the twinkle in his eye I knew I was going to like him. His friends at the U. say he is a real fellow too and a good company on a hike --- if you can keep him in sight, that is.
The thing that hit me in the eye about him was that he did not seem to be at all busy. Why if I went to interview an American scientist of his class --- supposing I could find one --- I would have to stick around an hour first. Then he would blow in carrying a big briefcase, and while he talked he would be pulling lecture notes, proof, reprints, books, manuscript, or what have you out of his bag. But Dirac is different. He seems to have all the time there is in the world and his heaviest work is looking out the window. If he is a typical Englishman it's me for England on my next vacation!
Then we sat down and the interview began.
"Professor," says I, "I notice you have quite a few letters in front of your last name. Do they stand for anything in particular?"
"No," says he.
"You mean I can write my own ticket?"
"Yes," says he.
"Will it be all right if I say that P.A.M. stands for Poincare' Aloysius Mussolini?"
"Yes," says he.
"Fine," says I, "We are getting along great! Now doctor will you give me in a few words the low-down on all your investigations?"
"No," says he.
"Good," says I. "Will it be all right if I put it this way --- `Professor Dirac solves all the problems of mathematical physics, but is unable to find a better way of figuring out Babe Ruth's batting average'?"
"Yes," says he.
"What do you like best in America?", says I.
"Potatoes," says he.
"Same here," says I. "What is your favorite sport?"
"Chinese chess," says he.
That knocked me cold! It was sure a new one on me! Then I went on: "Do you go to the movies?"
"Yes," says he.
"When?", says I.
"In 1920 --- perhaps also in 1930," says he.
"Do you like to read the Sunday comics?"
"Yes," says he, warming up a bit more than usual.
"This is the most important thing yet, doctor," says I. "It shows that me and you are more alike than I thought. And now I want to ask you something more: They tell me that you and Einstein are the only two real sure-enough high-brows and the only ones who can really understand each other. I wont ask you if this is straight stuff for I know you are too modest to admit it. But I want to know this --- Do you ever run across a fellow that even you can't understand?"
"Yes," says he.
"This well make a great reading for the boys down at the office," says I. "Do you mind releasing to me who he is?"
"Weyl," says he.
The interview came to a sudden end just then, for the doctor pulled out his watch and I dodged and jumped for the door. But he let loose a smile as we parted and I knew that all the time he had been talking to me he was solving some problem that no one else could touch.
But if that fellow Professor Weyl ever lectures in this town again I sure am going to take a try at understanding him! A fellow ought to test his intelligence once in a while.

R.I.P. Indian Newspapers
Times of India used to be great news paper. One might still think the same-particularly when you website hits are more than New York Times, The Sun, Washington Post, Daily Mail and USA Today websites. Not a mean thing in view of the fact that India is not the super power of the day. But the matter of fact is that long ago TOI ceased to be a family newspaper. And if its website hits are more than The Sun and The Daily Mail then it has succeeded in its aims. And cessation of being a family newspaper is proved. And this is a said thing. Apart from being an excellent news paper TOI publications (Bennet Coleman and Company Ltd) used to have the finest periodicals in India. All dead by now. This is a tragedy of gigantic proportions. The weekly magazine called The Illustrated Weekly of India died in front of our eyes-Pritish Nandi desperately trying to keep floating and failing miserably. It was a great magazine. India Today and OutLook magazines filled the slot left vacant-a proof that points to the fact that it was failure of TOI group and not a change in readers preferences. Then there was Hindi story monthly called Sarika. Just lovely magazine but that too disappeared. Then there was science monthly-Science Today. Very sorely missed till now. You still have nothing between Nature, Scientific American and usual newspaper articles about science. Science Today was excellent in filling that slot. But if you go by the philosophy of man called Samir Jain media is not about catering to reader interests-it is all about making money. Then there were other excellent publications by the same group by why should we put our heart in more trouble.
Coming back to newspapers. Hindustan Times was always the Delhi newspaper so if you are not a Delhite why should you bother about it?
Then there is the Indian Express (and the New Indian Express-very confusing isn't it?) First let us clear the confusion. The Express Publications Group bifurcated and you got two newspapers out of one. Both exist independently of each other. Now this (now these) newspaper has been obsessively anti-establishment. So it played some role in larger contexts. But isn't the job of the newspapers restricted to report unbiased news?
One gets tired of too much of activism. You want news from newspaper and politics from politicians.
A few decades ago The Hindu of Madras (yes that is what it was then) expanded to whole of India. Being a newspaper to the center of left (actually solidly) it always had its flavour that you might or might not have liked. By now the later possibility is more prominent owing to its blind support to those systems that share its ideology.
So nothing to read in English. That is good too. Just relax and have your cup of tea-after Ramadhan, that is.

This is an excellent eye opening book to misconceptions that some non-Muslims with an anti-Islam agenda and some Muslim extremists themselves have about Islam. The author discusses issues such as Fatwas and Jihad in a very well manner that clears many false understandings of the terms. He also exposes some of the orientalists such as Bernard Lewis and Samuel Huntington by for pushing these false images of Islam in the modern world. After 9/11 and the anti-Muslim propaganda that has become so mainstream, this book is a must read!

Israel Under Your Nose
Dirar Abu Sisi boarded a train at Kharkov station in Ukraine but failed to arrive at his final destination.
He is currently being held in Ashkelon prison in Israel, north of Gaza.
He is accused by Israel of hundreds of attempted murders and being the man behind missile programme of Hamas.
Strange combination of jobs.
If some one is a missile man, like APJ Abdul Kalam, would he also dabble in the other thing-attempting to take people's lives?
Or if there is a serial killer then what is the purpose behind the other enterprise?
People would like us to believe very strange things.

Location of Higgs - Part Two
So if we look at the four fundamental interactions electromagnetic, gravitational, weak and strong then Higgs makes its grand entry in the context of weak interactions. These are not the day to day type of experience interactions. Electromagnetic interactions are experienced daily-when you comb your dry hair you feel the electric charge, you do not touch high tension lines, you know magnets. Gravitational interactions are also familiar-you do not want to fall even on the floor. Weak and strong interactions are not so common. But they are not uncommon too-at least now a days. Radioactivity is all about them. So is cancer therapy using Cobalt-60 source. So is nuclear power. So is atom bomb. So is hydrogen (also called thermo-nuclear device in general). So if you have studies even little bit of history of discovery of radioactivity then you know about weak interactions. When we talh about Fukushima Disaster in recent Tsunami in Japan, or Chernobyl Disaster or Three Mile Island Disaster then we are talking about nuclear interactions, that is, weak and strong interactions. In fact mostly weak interactions.
Since these interactions occur in rather special circumstances, mainly deep inside the nucleus there study understanding too was bit late. The currently acceptable theory of weak interactions, the Salam-Weinberg Model, was proposed in the year of Six-Day-War between Egypt-Syria-Jordan and Israel, that is 1967. Better understanding of strong interactions dawned in the year of Yaum Kippur war, that is 1973. That is also the year when the Salam-Weinberg model was experimentally verified-before that it was just a proposed model-it could have been disproved by experiments. But that 1973 verification was verification of only one of the predictions of Salam-Weinberg Model. Over the years other, and much more spectacular, predictions of Salam-Weinberg model have been verified-one after another and yet another. Last one was in 1995-the discovery of a new particle called the top quark. It sounds so long ago-from the point of view of progress of modern society. One last piece of Salam-Weinberg Model remains to be checked experimentally and that of course is the new filed or particle called Higgs.
Salam-Weinberg Model is part of the so called Standard Model of particle Interactions. The Standard Model is just the name given to Salam-Weinberg Model combined with the theory of strong interactions. There is a name for the latter theory too but why should we bother about that name when we just want to talk about weak interactions-the locality in particle world where Higgs resides.
Actualy Salam-Weinberg model is not only a theory of weak interactions it also incorporates the earlier theory of electromagnetic interactions. Not Maxwell's theory but the finer version that includes quantum mechanics.
This combination of two theories is called unification-the current fad in particle physics. But I digress.
I need one more post to round it up but I'll check whether you have gone to sleep or not.

Location of Higgs on Physics Map
A brother at Sunni Forum is curious about current enthusiasm related to Higgs. Here is a very layman oriented first post on this issue by your poor Alig.
There are four type of forces and hence four type of interactions in nature.
You are familiar with electromagnetic force-the force between charged particles and the like.
You are familiar with gravitational force-the force responsible for falling of apples or the earth goind around the sun or the moon going around the earth.
Then there are strong and weak nuclear forces. Both of them acts inside the nucleus of atoms. Nucleus is very small. Hence both of them are called short range forces.
To describe the first one-the electromagnetic interactions you use electric and magnetic fields and the theory perfected by J.C.Maxwell around the time when Dar-ul-Uloom Deoband was being established. This has to be taken one step further to incorporate some thing called quantum mechanics. Leave it here for the time being.
The second interaction, the gravitational interaction in the simplest form is described by Newton's law of gravitation. This much is taught in High school itself. For a better description of the same we need Einstein's General theory of Relativity (GTR). This usually can be taught only at Post Graduate (PG) level. Leave this also-Higgs is some where else.
The weak and strong interaction that act at very small places can not at all be described in a way that Maxwell used for electromagnetic case and Einstein (Or Newton for simpler case) for gravitational case. In case of strong and weak interactions we necessarily need the thing mentioned earlier-quantum mechanics.
In fact we need a sophisticated version of quantum mechanics called quantum field theory. If you combine Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity (this is not not the GTR mentioned above!) with quantum mechanics then you end up in quantum field theory. This is the technology that is used to understand weak and strong interactions. (We have to use the same thing for the best description of electromagnetic interactions also.)
So various things, difficult things, have to be mixed together to get there.
So suppose you want to understand weak interactions then in that quest you need this Higgs field. But I'll cover that story in a similar post if you are still with me.

Higgs News Till Now
The answer is that there is no signal yet.
Earlier there was some evidence that has disappeared-going by the results presented at Lepton-Photon 2011 Conference at TIFR, Mumbai.
Then there is Dr S. Afsar Abbas, Visiting Professor at the Physics Department here at AMU. He has the assertion that Higgs can not be observed. If they get any evidence it'll be a chimera-a mirage.
He is is pleased with the current non-appearance of Higgs.
Of course for the usual Particle Physics community non-discovery of Higgs will be a serious kind of disaster-nearly beyond imagination.
Some Aligs might wonder about the take of your poor Alig.
Well Particle Physics community is a huge one and individual opinions, at least in this case, are really irrelevant.
So there.
In summary people hope to see Higgs. So far they have not seen it. In November better results are expected.

Buck Up Aligs!
Aligs are discussing the current Anna Hazare situation.
There are obvious concerns about the current supporters of the new Gandhian.
There are concerns about Muslim attitude about these happenings.
But they are discussing these things in their own groups.
Doing it in the open has the advantage of things being communicated to the society in general.
Unless it is done no one will know whether there is Muslim position on these issues or not.
Aligarh has been pioneer in many walks of like. Time is up to live up to this image of leadership.

Mogadisu is the capital of Somalia.
If you can call that-capital is the administrative head quarter of a country while Somalia has no administration.
East Africa, including Somalia, is facing worst drought in 60 years.
And whose faith did it wake up?
Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
He is the Prime Minister of Turkey
He went there at a time when no one thought that a head of a state can visit Somalia.
He went there with his Cabinet.
He went there with his family.
That is like a Muslim.
They'll open a an Embassy in Mogadisu and they'll carry out the relief work from there.
For this single act may we pray that Allah(SWT) return the lost glory of Turkey!

He went there with his family.
That is like a Muslim.

Strange World
If anybody tries to introduce even a single word of realism about the reining holy cow of last six decades he gets censored. And then anybody can write anything against Islam and Muslims-it is all protected under freedom of speech.
A just world.

The Brutal Solution That Was
A New York Times report (Aug 22, 2011):
Thousands of bullet-riddled bodies are buried in dozens of unmarked graves across Kashmir, a state human rights commission inquiry has concluded, many of them likely to be those of civilians who disappeared more than a decade ago in a brutal insurgency.Source : NYT
Butler, Err Sharma Did It
S&P cut USA rating down to AA+ from AAA.
President of S&P was Deven Sharma.
US wanted to shoot the messenger.
Or the messenger has been shot. Mr Singh has stepped down as the president and will be eased out as an employee too.
Well many times you have to pay a heavy price for speaking the truth.
We suppose US is not in its brightest phase. Thinking wise.
May be we shall soon get the news about US AAA credit rating being restored.
And still later we'll get used to a country called US with AAA credit rating but not a good place to do business.
As they say in India: It is the same whether the knife falls on the water melon or the other way round.
US, heal thyself. Economic superpowerty (we like that ourselves!) is slipping out of your hand but try to get the family (no, no not the nuclear family) values back into your life. If you so wish.

Famine in Somalia
To of our sensitive bloggers have reported about famine in Somalia.
Here is one and here is another.
Amartya Sen said that famines do not occur in democracy.
Your poor Alig wishes that someone will say the same thing for an Islamic rule.
Latter will be more true-any Islamic regime allowing famine to take place under its sovereignty will automatically cease to be Islamic.
Democracy can not give any such guarantee-irrespective of what our honourable Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen believes. It is all romanticism. Petis, khokhas, kodas, kalmadis, rajas (whatever is the proper order) will see to it that their interests are above the interests of humanity.
In the meanwhile why are we not behaving as true believers?

23 Years Old Lecturer
A 23 years old lecturer in architecture, she is that kind of person who will not take no for an answer.
Yeh, yes. It is obvious that she has not seen life. What about getting connected to reality? Allah (SWT) has sent us in this world to please Him-and not to please our Baser Self-nafs. Youth is something that does not return once it leaves. And old age is something that does not leave once it comes in. Youth should be seen with energy, no doubt about that, and enthusiasm but if your ego is the first visible thing about you then may be you are already over the hill on a downward slope. The way out is to be the solace of pious people's eyes and not an eyesore. That is if you so wish.

History Making in Our Backyard
Rebels are in central Tripoli.
One more piece of history being made in front of our eyes-we live in global village and the action is in the backyards of Muslim street.
And one question is how amenable the result will be for Islam and Muslims.
Too many people busy with the action part-and there must be people behind the action also-it is inevitable.
It is the moments like present ones when the decisions with far reaching consequences are made.
Is there anybody doing that on behalf of Muslims is the question.

That is the Question
To make Amazon rain forest communities visible and accessible to us is the question. To maintain the pristine beauty or to enjoy and expose it to the modern civilized world is the question. A question as fresh as ever.

From TPLEC Czech Republic With Derision
This is the quotation from the link given in our earlier post.
The blogger is a well known sociopath called Lubos Motl from a tin pot little European country called Czech Republic. Such people survive and thrive in west because of their perverted sense of freedom of speech. May be west is having its swan song. (US is already sharing responsibility with China.)
Again, this irrational person just can't get it. It's like trying to explain to a fundamentalist Muslim that Mohammed was primarily an aggressive medieval terrorist. Certain things are taboos for certain people.(May Allah(SWT) forgive us for reproducing this blasphemy.)

Narrow Minded, Broad Minded
Some asked as to why Anna Hazare is silent on matters that concern Muslims.
(For example killing of Shehla Masood has been relegated to just one cog in the wheel of the juggernaut called Anna Hazare.)
Then there are educated and wise Muslims. Do not think selfishly, they advise, this is a matter that concerns the whole country.
Yes brother. Tell us more.
Or may be listen more.
There a time long, long ago. 1947 to be more precise.
There was one B.R.Ambedkar at that time. He took some decisions. The result? Well for nominal aspects every other university of the country is now called B.R.Ambedkar university. (Alright, there are too many with that name.)
The Dalits, the people he represented, have left Muslims behind. Far behind in many walks of life.
Does it make sense? Should you not take the action when it must be taken. And the action should be proper and wise too. Even if you are called narrow minded. The name callers can mind their own business.

American Unification
Unitarian Universalist Church is a heaven for atheists. see the comment here.
Allah(SWT) alone knows where they'll end up with this kind of synthesis.
What about keeping the things simple?
Allah (SWT) says that as far as atheists are concerned it is the same whether you call them to the truth or not-they will not listen. So why should one try in vain to rein the atheists in? They think they know as to where they are going but they really do not.
Luckily they are responsible for their actions-you are not. You are responsible for your actions.

Good Britain, Bad Britain
There was, once upon a time, a man called Nirad C. Chaudhury.
He tried to live like an Englishman. Behave like Englishman.
Then there is a proverb in India that when a crow tries to walk like a swan the result is that he'll forget his own walk. Somebody remarked that he wrote lots of books and infuriated most of his countrymen-except the intelligent ones.
You see the heads I win, tails you loose game of the commenter?
Have you stopped beating your wife?
That is why birth of a person like Nirad C. Choudhury can not be anything but a fitnah-a calamity. It is a no-win situation for you. May Lord Most High protect us from every fitnah.
One of the brain waves he had was that whatever good we have now we owe it to the British.
Period.
And too many of us end up believing such rubbish.
What about slavery?
British enslaved India.
Freedom is a British value. A value they value a lot.
But they enslaved India (and too many other countries).
So what does it make them-good or bad?
Even Dr Manmohan Singh sometime back got confused about that. (That is an inevitable end of western education-like it or not, unless you take enormous amount of precaution.)
Professor Irfan habib took Dr Singh to task. Believe us-we have it on the authority of S.Swaminathan A.Ayer.
See here.

Defending the Family Baby
Every social organization tries to defend itself.
Like string theory community.
This is a theory of Physics-a theory that tries to give a unified description of all of the interactions or forces of nature that are known to us.
And it is under attack from various quarters.
For example people who can not keep up with the fast pace of this field try to find fault in it. (And still keep trying to do something in this very same field-duplicity at a place where you least expect it!)
And that is all in deed.
Then there are string theory people who try to defend it.
Like Lubos Motl who had to quit academics because of his extra bold attitudes.
Here is one such attempt by him to defend academic standards.

Why So Much of Hatred for Muslims?
A Muslim group in Switzerland announced a campaign against Islamophobia.
Another group supported it.
Here is the news item.
Here is the first comment there by a reader called Proud Kaffir:
So what is common to all these comments? Answer: Pathological hatred for Muslims. Why? The answer is obvious-the centuries old sustained campaign of maligning Islam and Muslims has come to the fore. Some how Muslims have been rather oblivious to it after resoundingly defeating the crusaders. We are in a phase when Muslims are waking up to this ugly reality. Occasionally somebody will comment on that blog to defend Islam and Muslims but the overwhelming presence of Islamophobic elements still have a field day there. But they do stand challenged.
Another group supported it.
Here is the news item.
Here is the first comment there by a reader called Proud Kaffir:
Again, the same dishonest, sickening attempt by muslims to label themselves as the "new Jews"; regardless of mainstream muslim admiration of Hitler, the fact that Mein Kampf is a bestseller in many muslim countries and the islamic hatred of Jews which has been part and parcel of islam since its invention. And I'll write again why such analogies are beyond the pale, especially because their aim is to try to stop the growth not of "islamophobia", which is something that does NOT exist, but of islamo-realism/awareness...Here is the second comment there by a reader called MarieLuise:
European Jews in the 1930 were fully-assimilated citizens of the countries where they lived and who actually CONTRIBUTED economically and culturally a great lot to their societies; unlike muslims, contributing extremely little and acting as an enormous burden on the societies where they live, both through what they get (legally and illegally) from welfare programs; rejecting secular legal systems in favor of that formula for the creation of cesspools known as sharia; being responsible for the overwhelming majority of criminal acts in countries such as Sweden, Denmark, Norway, France, the UK and the Netherlands. Not to mention how they require ever-increasing surveillance in order to be "prevented" from (in the words of our gutless and cowardly political leaders, as if anything done by infidels could prevent this) "becoming radicalized", which in practice actually means following true islam as Mein Qurampf orders them to.
I like the word IslamoRealism, Proud_Kafir, because it is hitting the nail on the head. Here is the third comment there by a user called Abelard:
I hear/read this pathetic comparison of Muslims to the Jews during the "Third Reich" all the time.
The Dhimmy status in previous times forbid Non-Muslims to dress like Muslims, btw. A Yellow Star?
The Muslims DARE TO imitate and quote the Jews, who they hate so exceedingly bitterly??? That's the summit of absolute HYPOCRISY!!!!!Here is the third comment there by a user called Riviera:
Yes, thank goodness that Islamorealism is increasing - the question is if it will be in time, given how very many leftist governments and opposition parties have so much in place to then usurp everything? It wouldn't take very much for them, given how much they think and know they've undermined Western society (and some of the leftist militantism I've seen on some websites is most alarming as well as appalling!), to decide to invoke martial law (and they couldn't care less about the economic consequences, as we've been seeing with the likes of Obama - in fact, any economic upheavals will almost certainly serve as an excuse to bring in totalitarianism!!!!) and really usher in the reign of the Beast!!!
This means, exactly as Revelation has foretold it, that we'll ALL have to have microchips embedded in our skin either in our forearms or our foreheads!! We now have the technology for it, the leftists - and the Muslims! - have the motivation to control positively EVERYTHING more than most control freaks nowadays (especially as they think they're almost ready to really fulfill their goals); and as people forget Christianity (which has been happening at a frightening pace in the West!!) and the Commies insinuate themselves into everything (especially as they have been advocating the advent of a cashless society), this stuff will become reality - and far, far sooner than we think, I most strongly fear!!!!
Ladies and gentlemen, I can't tell you how much yours truly most desperately wants to be wrong, at all prices; however, what I see around me is most extremely discouraging and worrisome.
There is a simple solution for these poor Muslims who feel they have become scapegoats: Leave Islam. Jewishness is not something you can leave but Islam can be renounced. The honourable thing to do is leave the religion of evil.
So what is common to all these comments? Answer: Pathological hatred for Muslims. Why? The answer is obvious-the centuries old sustained campaign of maligning Islam and Muslims has come to the fore. Nuclear Weapons
From Indian Express:
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called nuclear weapons a waste of money today.Oh yeh! Amuse us.
Shakha Proshakha
From Daily Siasat:
Lucknow, August 15: In the capital of U.P, Lucknow the number of R.S.S shakhas is decreasing continiously and less number of persons are participating in it. Associate sar sanchalak Mr. Bhayyaji Joshi camped in Lucknow from 9th to 13th August 2011. He made an attempt to elicit information about the decreasing number of shakhas and the lack of interest on the part of the public. Addressing the workers on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, he impressed upon the need to attract people to the shakhas.PS: Those who are not familiar with India would like to know that Shakha means a branch and Proshakha will be Bengali word for subbranch. RSS is the fascist organization responsible for the torment of Muslims in India for more than eighty years and derives inspiration from Hitler's actions as well as, ironically, wants to go hand in hand with Israel against Muslims and Islam.
He said that U.P is a large state and BJP is an important political party in the country. Hence there is a need to strengthen the R.S.S branches.

There is no dearth of people ready to do anything to achieve their goals.
And people appreciate this. Strange.
To come to the point a person can give up the faith dear to Lord Almighty to become the President of America.
Oh that was long ago and has nothing to do with the presidency.
Yes, yes. Humour us.
Anyway Iraq Husain Osama, err, Barak Husain Obama gave the Iftar Party. (We tell you this is gonna replace Tea Party.) Here is the address:

Superconductivity May Be or May Be Not
Superconductivity is one of the most fascinating phenomenon in nature for people in Physics.
Then there is its theory called the BCS theory. Bardeen-Cooper-Schriefer Theory.
Nobel prize for All.
Then, in 1986, there was discovered High-Tc Superconductivity.
Nobel Prize for the discoverers but not unanimously agreed upon theory.
And String Theory is another extremely interesting theory in Physics-theory of another branch of Physics.
Can there be any connection between the two. May be or may be not. But the way you say it sometimes can be funny. Here is a joke for insiders.

Bharat Ratan for Dhyan Chand
From Siasat (Politics) Daily
And, if we may point it out sir, we at AMU already have a Dhyan Chand Hostel in Sir Ziauddin Hall. So when anybody feels like testing our loyalty he or she should also be ready for a shock treatment-we might feel like testing whether he or she has any humanity left in him or her or not. Fair?

Operation Sabotage Shariah
You do not need enemies to hurt Islam and Muslims. Muslims themselves do it best.
How did this get to Ottawa Citizen all the way from UK? Simple-some of us must be doing that. Qazis are very sensitive to woman's issues-no, not because of the fear of white skin people but because of fear of Allah Most High. But there are enough people amongst us who appease white skin shamelessly-one can use stronger words in place of appeasement but let us pass that.Sharia courts have been accused of exploiting women by favouring men in their decisions, potentially leaving wives trapped in abusive marriages.
New Kerala
That is a news site from Kerala-not a local news medium but a wholesome news caterer.
Kerala is supposed to be most educated state in India.
But does education breed astrology? If you look at the headers of this site you get the feast: Astrology, Chinese Astrology, Numerology, ...What?
Any way this is only the secondary bickering. How can anybody say that Eid-ul-Fitr falls in October? It keep revolving and this year it is not falling in October. (You might make a guess as to when the article was written.) Any way the author says some charming things also.

The day starts early on Eid day for a Muslim family. In big mosques special prayers are held. All the Muslims come together for the prayers hence they are held at open places also like the stadium or a big ground. The duration of the prayers is not long. They are short and after the prayers there is a khutba. The sight of so many people praying together is beautiful. There are rows and rows of men kneeling together. They bend down together and again sit erect at the same together. It is as if thousands bulbs light up and go off at the same time.Thank you sir.

Iceland honours us by way of sending visitors. Al-Jazeera is making documentary on Ramadhan in Iceland and then on New Zealand.

How They Train FBI Men
The train them using books by Robert Spencer. See here.
A January study by a liberal research group found a pattern of misleading and inflammatory training about Islam across the country, and a 2009 F.B.I. training document obtained recently by the American Civil Liberties Union gave a provocative account of Islam.
The F.B.I. document recommended two books by Robert Spencer, an anti-Muslim blogger and author whose work was repeatedly cited in the online manifesto of Anders Behring Breivik, the Norwegian accused of killing at least 76 people last month. What can one expect from people thus trained?

America Heal Thyself
American society, in fact the western society in general, is deeply troubled.
One can not help having concern for it, in spite of the fact that it has been rubbing all the other societies, except Israel, in the wrong way. An ex-marine has bee sentenced for death for serially killing eleven women. And this is not the only event of this type. Our brothers from across the Atlantic just do not know what is happening to their society. The try the case to case quick fix solutions. What about having a closer look at your freedom clause? If stench is coming from some house is that his personal matter only? It is very difficult to elaborate on such things but may be a hint is sufficient to the wise.

Deadlier US
There is a bad news for Muslim world (and others reeling under US might). Us is in the process of developing HTV-2, yet another supersonic fighter/bomber. Speed of this new toy is Mach-20. It means that it can travel twenty times faster than the speed of sound in air. These are incredible speeds. You'd not like such objects flying past you. Once the US has them then they can hit any target in less than an hour. No chance for the Homo Sapiens in their unfortunate target to escape. Of course for the time being the horrible invention has disappeared into thin air (no pun intended).

Inspiration : A New Muslimah
Inspiration : A New Muslimah
Autralian New Muslimah
Why did I revert to Islam?
Nevertheless, I continued to believe in God and prayed often – whenever I was sad or anyone was sick or in need, although not as much as Muslims do.
I searched for another religion, but nothing appealed to me.
As I got older, I started to question myself - what do I want/need? I decided the love of God is what I need. I bought a large Morganite gemstone to attract divine love and the love of God.
A brochure on Islam ('What do you see?') arrived in my letterbox shortly after, offering a free Qur'an. I almost threw the brochure in the garbage bin, but stopped and thought “Why not!”, I'll have a look at this book.
The Qur'an arrived and I searched in the index for "jihad" and "infidels", but couldn't find either in the Qur'an index. I dislike these two words which are used often by the media.
I started to read the Qur'an (English translation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali) and was surprised to find my God is talking in another book. I know how he talks from studying the Holy Bible – he is a violent God, and he is a jealous God – beautiful words in Qur'an. This book, the Qur'an is very eloquent. It is running parallel with the Holy Bible. God is telling me how to live. It is filling in the missing pieces for me. I cried tears of joy.
I read the Qur'an each night before bedtime and it took four months to read it all. When I finished it, I decided to read it again, and again and now it has become a happy habit to read the Qur'an after my night time bath and before I go to sleep.
After seven months of careful consideration, I decided to revert to Islam. This is the religion I want to be part of. Everything about this religion is me and how I think and feel, my love for other people, animals, plants and all creation.
I feel very happy and proud that I am a Muslim. I feel a lot of inner peace now that I have found my God, Allah.
Apples and Oranges
Riz Khan : Is there any evidence that when communities move away from religion, as it happens, they have a tendency to believe in evolution. Is that true or do you believe that there is no relation between the two?
Richard Dawkins : Oh there is a relation between the two. I think, for example, the Scandinavian societies have largely abandoned religion and they are very civilized societies.

Not The Best Moments
If some one is burning his house then it is not his personal matter-particularly if he is your neighbour. And do not forget that we now live in the global village. For example is some one is spreading the word that God is a delusion then it is not his personal business. It hits you where it hurts. For a change here are some moments of Richard Dawkins. Not his best ones.

Smart People
Some smart people thought that they can know the truth/reality just by thinking about it. Or by reasoning about it. Or by discussing about it. Or debating about it.
Some smart people, at this moment, are calling it the rational approach.
See here and here.
And when we say smart people you have to take your poor Alig's word. These guys are as smart as Nobel Laureates. Some of them will eventually end up being that or like that, for example, Fields Medalists.
But one thing is plain curious in this.
All of these people are aware of Godel's theorem.
It says that no logical system can be both self-consistent as well as complete.
What the rational approach amounts to is to look for a logical system that is self-consistent.
And when they find it then they will see for themselves that it is not complete.
That much follows from Godel's theorem.
And hence the rational approach is not going to lead them to the truth in its completeness.
That is why empirical approach gate crashed the avenue where they are trying to find the truth or reality.
It has been a success story par excellence to gather knowledge by empirical method.
Why do they still argue whether rational method is sufficient or not?
From Godel's theorem it is not sufficient.
From empirical evidence it is not complete.
One of them says that:
For Muslims this is something of deja vu. Because this is what happened when kalam scholars took on the mutazila.
And that brings us to the point that your poor Alig would like to make-even empiricism is not enough to get the full knowledge of the world. You need the Divine Inspiration (The Wahi as well as Ilham) to complete your knowledge.

However, I also think that we’re not smart enough—hence the need for observation and experiment.Shouldn't he say that we are smart enough to realize that rational approach itself is not enough and hence we require empirical method?

Insects embedded in amber are exquisitely beautiful.
(And a lot more truthful than the American journalist embedded in US Army.)
I lots of history recorded by Allah (SWT) when no historians were around.

Islam and Creativity
Some time back there was an English translation of the Holy Qur'an termed as First American Version.
As if adopting a different Islam for a different country is perfectly legitimate thing.
Verily there is no Power and Strength except from Allah Most High.
Then we hear of books like Qur'an and Woman: Rereading the Sacred Text from a Woman's Perspective.
There is nothing wrong in women reading the Holy Qur'an.
In fact it will be wrong if they do not read it.
And reading it for finding rulings and guidance for womenfolk's too will be alright.
But all that is not at stake here.
The objective is to impose your own agenda on the meaning of the Holy Qur'an.
A predecided agenda.
Now what is the use of that? You might end up doing little bit of harm to Muslims-at the most.
And more harm you do more you have to answer on the Day of Judgment.
But there are people who are ready to applaud any such foolishness.
Fools paradise is right here in this world.
And thus it gets classified as creativity.
Islam does not inhibit creativity.
Islamic art is a point in the case.
Calligraphy is another.
Qir'at is yet another.
Scientific advancement during Islamic Caliphate is yet another.
Then there is Arabic, Persian and Urdu poetry.
These all require creativity.
So you can indulge in your creativity without going out of the fold of Islam.
If you choose otherwise then neither you are fooling Muslims nor your Lord Most High.
It is foolish to anger your Lord Most High to please people of fair colour of the skin-even if they are famous for their current economic, military and scientific prowess.

Brat-ization of British Youth
Thanks God that at least some one is saying the truth:
THE riots in London and elsewhere in Britain are a backhanded tribute to the long-term intellectual torpor, moral cowardice, incompetence and careerist opportunism of the British political and intellectual class.Source : The Australian via Arun
British youth leads the Western world in almost all aspects of social pathology, from teenage pregnancy to drug taking, from drunkenness to violent criminality. There is no form of bad behaviour that our version of the welfare state has not sought out and subsidised.
British children are much likelier to have a television in their bedroom than a father living at home. One-third of them never eat a meal at a table with another member of their household -- family is not the word for the social arrangements of the people in the areas from which the rioters mainly come. They are therefore radically unsocialised and deeply egotistical, viewing relations with other human beings in the same way as Lenin: Who whom, who does what to whom. By the time they grow up, they are destined not only for unemployment but unemployability.
What is Convertitis?
Islam is submission of your will to the Will of Allah Most High.
Man finds excuse for not doing that.
Energy of youth might lead one astray-he might think that I can do so many things on my own so why should I submit myself to anybody-Allah(SWT) included, may Allah(SWT) forgive us for saying so.
This leads to rebel of youth. This usually comes in control with aging.
Then there is rebellion caused by wealth. Think of the example of Qaroon. He thought that his wealth is not a Mercy from Allah(SWT) but he earned it using his own expertise. He had a terrible end that continues till today.
Then there is the power of intellect.
This too is a blessing of Allah Most High and this too should be submitted to His Will.
Some people do not do that.
They do not submit their intellect to the Will of Allah Most High.
They want to decide themselves as to what is Islam.
Modern educated Muslims are falling into this en masse.
Verily very few people take heed-Allah(SWT) has told us.
This is what we face in present times. People not submitting their intellect to the Will of Allah(SWT).
There is another group of people who face the same problem-the new converts to Islam.
Particularly the western educated converts.
These are the people with high intellectual abilities.
Why should I follow this Imam or that Imam I'll follow Muhammed (PBUH).
They also feel that Islam should be a cut and dried product specimen coming in a box with Do-It-Yourself instructions. It should suit their requirements.
This later thing is termed convertitis.

Islam in Tamil Nadu
South India is India.
But it is so different from North.
It has work culture.
North doesn't.
North lives on politics. Of course there are notable exceptions.
South too has politics (and they can rub salt on your wounds-sorry to be frank) but they do not live on that.
From Muslim point of view Tamil Nadu is sort of least prominent out of the four main southern states.
Andhra has the Nizam connection.
Karnataka the Tipu Sultan connection.
Kerala has the oldest Islam connection.
That leaves us with Tamil Nadu.
But the Islam and Muslim connection in this case is not weaker in any sense.
For a northern person it is a pleasantry that Tamil Nadu is the border state for Urdu. Beyond it (if we may say so) there is no Urdu.
A Hyderabadi friend was laughing at Tamil Nadu Urdu.
He might be justified in his own right-Tamil Nadu Urdu (not the Madarsa Urdu but the Urdu spoken by the people in Urdu pockets) is not Delhi Urdu, or Lucknow Urdu, or Hyderabad Urdu.
But it is endearing Urdu. Exactly the way Maharashtrian Urdu is endearing in its own way.
Of course your poor Alig has a bias for Madras, err Chennai vis-a-vis Delhi-Mumbai-Kolkata.
Who knows what contributions to the Religion of Allah these people will make in future.
For the time being we know that the best Urdu monthly on Islam comes from there. That is Dawat-ul-Haq from Pernambut.
And just look at this blog-what a young girl can do single handedly!
(And if you are a Muslim from Tamil Nadu and find that this post is not a comprehensive post on Islam in Tamil Nadu then your complain is fully justified but the onus is on you only to develop a comprehensive Wikipedia page on this topic.)

What Was That Again?
We are talking about Haleem (a simple but tasty dish) from Hyderabad. Here is a Yahoo news item:
Do they mean Haleem is unhealthy food? Since when?Nearly forty per cent of the consumers of Haleem are Hindus. So, there is a dip in the sales this season,” pointed out Mohammed Abdul Majeed, owner of famous food outlet Pista House and president of the Haleem Makers Association of Hyderabad. Secondly, there is also growing consciousness among youngsters about healthy food.

Errata sheet... Whenever somebody says "islamophobia" or "islamophobic", the respective accurate words for what they ought to be saying are "islamo-realism" and "islamo-realist." Since when studying Mein Qurampf, the Hadith, the Sira, The Reliance of the Traveler and the 1400-year history of territorial and cultural imperialism, violence, intolerance, plundering, destruction, supremacism, terrorism, racism and misogyny of islam is something that ought to make those who do it be labeled with a non-existing clinical condition?
